4 Secrets for creating your book content effortlessly

Book content creation explained in 4 simple steps

Do you struggle to create content for your book? If the answer is yes, then this blog post is going to take that stress away from you. Book content creation is very important because it is the content of a book that determines its quality of the book. Your book might have a very catchy title, but if your readers do not find value in your content, it will be very hard for them to continue reading your text. This is the reason you need to pay so much attention to content creation and make sure that the content you are creating is meeting the need of your audience.

Book content creation can at times be very tricky if we miss out on some basic concepts. You also have to understand that content creation for business purposes or motivational purposes is quite different from the normal essay you may be used to or have been taught while at college. 1. Understand the subject in book content creation

Understanding the subject you are dealing with is very important for you to create book content that is outstanding and relevant for your book and your audience. What do we mean by understanding the subject? The subject of your content is your primary target or your ideal reader, as we will call it in the book writing industry. Most often content creators focus so much on the event they are writing about to the extent that they forget about the reader. No matter how good your content might be, if you do not pay attention to the reader and engage them in the reading process, your content will not create the intended value.

The subject of your book content is the person who is reading the content. You need to be able to understand who they are, what they do, and why they need the content in the first place. Immediately you understand the subject, you will be able to communicate in their language. This will help you to win their attention and get them to engage with your content.

2. Understand the problem your book content is solving

This implies, that in content creation, the problem goes beyond the purpose of creating the content and takes into consideration the value you are bringing to the ideal reader. When you understand the subject of your content, you will be able to create content that brings the value your ideal reader is looking for to solve the problem they might be going through. You can find more information about this in my previous post on what I should have known before writing my first book.

3. Understand the decision in book content creation

In book content creation the decision on what to write is very crucial because it determines the direction of your writing. How do you decide on what to write about and do you know that the reader is going to like what you write about? This is a very important question to ask yourself throughout your book content creation process.

On like many content writers, the decision to write is not based on what you know how to write best, but it’s based on your ability to answer a very simple question: If I was seating face-to-face with my subject (ideal reader) over lunch or coffee, how would I tell them this story? What would I start talking about and what would I end with?

While content creation is more about putting your pen to work, we always have to remember that we are communicating to real people and not abstract people. Think about your book content creation as the way you would teach your ideal reader if they were seating directly in front of you.  You need to understand that if you seat face-to-face with your reader, you will not need to brainstorm to start talking to them. In the same way, when you open your mind, you make the decision to start writing in a flow.

4. Understand the importance of itemization in book content creation

What do I mean by items in book content creation? Imagine you going to the grocery store the weekend of your birthday to do some shopping for a party you what to host and you go without an itemized list. What is going to happen to you? The first thing that will likely happen is that you will spend so much time roaming around and guessing what you have to buy. The second thing is that you might end up buying many things you do not need. The third thing is that you might also forget many important things that would have been useful…, and the list continues.

How do you create the items you need for your book content creation:

  • Write down between 30 – 60 items in the order in which it comes to your mind. Do not bother about structuring them.
  • Assign the different items into categories, grouping similar items together.
  • Give the category’s names and titles based on your understanding of your ideal reader problem.
  • The categories become your main topics to write about while your items become the sub-topics

When you do this, you will notice that it is very easy to create your book content with little or no stress. This also helps you to write effortlessly. All that you need is already inside you. You just need to find a way to get it out there in a way that is unique.
