Writing a book helped me tell my story better, and gain more clarity and confidence in myself and my business.
Originally from Cameroon, I traveled to Canada in 2014. Prior to moving to Canada, I was working as a Human Resource Advisor. When I arrived in Canada, finding a job was very challenging. Aside from not finding a suitable job, I faced several other challenges- I was away from my family, dealing with unemployment, and had low self-esteem. Because of these challenges, I found myself a job as a warehouse associate, loading and unloading trucks.
While working as a warehouse associate, they sent me to work in a freezer house during my shift. I was busy packing bags of turkey. I got to one of the very heavy bags. My fingers were frozen. You can’t imagine how much it hurts. I started crying just imagining myself doing this labor job for the years to come. At that moment, I felt within me that I was not at the right place. That was a turning point in my life. I turned my life around and could create my own economy.
My book is my story and experience. It is also the story of many of us out there. As a mindset coach, I am privileged to be helping many people turn their lives around. This is because I came to realize that the problem I was going through was not because I was not qualified to get a better job, but because I had the wrong mindset.

Turning your life around starts with your understanding of who you are
The moment I realized that I was worth more than a warehouse associate, the power within me was revealed. I began to connect the dots in my life. At that moment, I was able to remember what my grandmother told me about 20 years ago. She said to be “Patrick, you were created to be a teacher, to help people with their destiny”. It is possible for anyone to take the step I took to turn their life around. All you need is to understand that you can do more than what you are currently doing.
Writing a book has made the difference in my life and opened many more opportunities.
Before I met Dr. Francis Mbunya, I have been trying to write a book for a very long time, but I was alone trying all options within my reach. I even bought some courses from Udemy to help me write better, but I never finished writing my manuscript. When I met Dr. Francis Mbunya, I realized I did not have the right system. I also understood that even if I would have succeeded to write the book, it would not have made the impact it is making now. Before, I thought writing a book was just about sharing my story. Dr. Francis thought me that writing a book was more than sharing a story. It is a full-time job and you could create magic by writing the solution people need into your book. It is a full-time job and you could create magic by writing the solution people need into your book. My book has helped me to create a legacy for myself and to reach millions of people around the world. Something I did not imagine was possible within a very short time. The system Dr. Francis taught me is very simple and can help anyone with no writing experience write and publish a book that will change lives in less than 9 weeks. It took me just two weeks to write my book. It really surprised me how fast things were coming through.
After writing a book that is making the difference, I can say anyone can do more if they have the right help
My book, which is titled ” Turn your life around: five steps to create your own economy and live a life of legacy” is the foundation that I have laid for anyone who wants to dare beyond their own personal capacity. We struggle alone on our own and we do not realize that there is a lot of help available for us out there. I have described five ‘paradigm shifts, we could employ to create our own economy:
1. Understanding our relationship with money
What do we have in mind when we think about money? Money is beyond the physical currency that we see. Having the right relationship with money can help us attract the kind of money we need to sustain our own economy. The three dimensions of money include the physical, the psychological, and the spiritual. A clear understanding of these three levels will turn your life around.
2. Our self-image
What you think of yourself will shape your future. It is the subconscious mind that influences the body, and the body, through actions, influences the results that are obtained. The subconscious is a kind of store of images that we have accumulated. The image we have of ourselves is housed in the subconscious mind. This explains why maintaining a negative image of us leads to negative results since the image of us being negative and being housed in the subconscious, and it is the subconscious that influences our actions, therefore the results obtained are the negative results.
3. Goal settings
I learned from Jim Rohn that the value of goals does not lie in the result achieved, but rather in the person you become in the process of achieving that result. The importance of goals is to enable us to move ahead, to become the best version of ourselves, to go deep within ourselves, and to tap into this huge reservoir of wealth that we have deep within ourselves.
4. Ask for help
One good idea is all a person needs to be successful. At the risk of repeating myself, there was a time in my life when I was unable to say a silent prayer in a telephone booth. This may make you smile. But it’s the truth. I was very shy and I couldn’t find it in me to ask for help. I wanted to give the impression that I could help myself, even though somewhere deep inside me I desperately needed outside support. I finally came to understand that in order to truly go further and higher, one needs to be accompanied and even more, one needs to be surrounded by positive people.
5. Your attitude determines your altitude
My mentor Bob Proctor used to compare attitude to a cake. When the cake is made, it becomes impossible to differentiate the flour from butter, eggs from yeast, water from oil and so on. It is when all these elements are put together that a cake is made. So if you want to understand why the cake has a particular color or taste, you have to study every ingredient that goes into the cake.
